Welcome
to the website of John Young-Jung Lee
You
are so beautiful!
The
breath of God, that was hovering over the waters in
the beginning of God's creation, makes all things beautiful.
Therefore the season of Pentecost is the time that we
make all God's creation look better. This
is our humble confession that it is not we, but God already made all things
differently and yet beatiful.
Pentecost is one of the three
great Christian festival with Christmas and Easter. The Holy Spirit is the breath of God and it is
the power of harmony that creates all things into new life. The Day of Pentecost is the beginning of the church and it is an
ongoing renewal of our
faith for new life.
My scriptural reference for the church's nurturing and growth is
found in the parable of the kingdom of heaven in Matthew's Gospel:"The kingdom of heaven is
like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the
smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs
and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its
branches."
The key word in this passage is "make nests" through the work of the Holy Spirit. Without it, this parable does not have any meaning. This is where we find the fruits
of Easter hope
and how we live with the Holy Spirit, the life-giving
Spirit of the Creator. I hope we encounter
Christ's passion for justice and share the stories of
joys and
sorrows that we have experienced.
In our sharing we will know that we are
not alone: God is with us and we are together the body of Christ. We, the peacemakers, will begin the
celebration of Holy
Week at each of our places and we continue to walk with Christ hand in
hand with our friends who strive to be the salt and light of the world
at the every corner of the global village.
This
website is to share stories to test out
my thoughts, beliefs and visions. I invite you
to begin your touring and to share ideas about
the shape of church present and future.
Peace,
Rev.
